Good, honest late Victorian oak tantalus with integrated games box. Originally fitted for three square cut glass decanters, retaining one period example with faceted stopper. The upper section locks via the central mechanism, releasing the frame to access the bottles, with original mirror to the back.
The lower section opens out to reveal fitted compartments for cards, counters or small games pieces, with an additional pull-out tray below.
Nicely detailed with Gothic Revival style mounts and carrying handles, finished in silvered white metal. A practical piece with a bit of presence — equally suited to use or display.
