A substantial early oak drop-leaf table dating from the late 17th to early 18th century, circa 1680–1720. Constructed in solid oak with an eight-plank top, the table features a traditional gate-leg action allowing the leaves to be raised independently to create a generous oval dining surface or lowered when not in use.
Raised on well-proportioned bobbin-turned legs united by stretchers, the table displays the honest craftsmanship associated with English country furniture of the period. The top has developed a deep colour and rich patina through centuries of use, retaining numerous historic marks and surface wear that add to its authenticity and character.
