A set of four solid wooden dining chairs made by Castle Brothers of High Wycombe in 1952. Each chair is stamped with the crowned GR VI mark, showing they were made during the reign of King George VI.

The frames are sturdy and well-crafted, with simple slatted backs decorated with wooden pegs. The seats are upholstered in the original green velvet, which has worn gently with age. A good, honest set of British-made chairs with plenty of character and history.

  • Era: 1952 (Mid 20th Century)
  • Origin: High Wycombe, England
  • Materials: Hardwood frame, original green velvet upholstery
  • Dimensions (each): Approx. H 84cm x W 43cm x D 43cm (seat height approx. 46cm)
  • Condition Notes: All four chairs are sturdy and usable. The wood shows some wear and scratches, and the velvet has aged but remains intact.
  • Provenance/Story: Made by Castle Brothers, a long-established furniture maker from High Wycombe. The GR VI stamp marks them as being made under the reign of George VI.
  • Care Tips: Wipe wooden parts with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Upholstery can be gently hoovered with a soft brush. Avoid placing in direct sunlight.
