A mid 20th century carved camphor wood chest, of typical Chinese export type. Heavily decorated throughout with carved panels depicting pagodas, figures and landscape scenes, with further dragon carving to the sides.
The lid and front both feature deep relief carving, with geometric border detail. Fitted with a brass lock plate to the front. Raised on block feet, giving it a bit more presence than the flatter examples.
Well-made and solid, with good colour and a consistent aged finish. Strong decorative piece with practical storage.
