An unusual matching pair of Arts & Crafts oak rocking armchairs, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1900–1920.
The chairs are substantially constructed in oak, with shaped ladder backs, carved quatrefoil floral motifs, broad scroll-ended arms and long curved rockers. The oak has developed a warm aged colour with particularly attractive grain throughout.
Both chairs have upholstered seats supported on traditional woven webbing. During inspection, an old fragment of Dutch printed paper was found beneath the upholstery, suggesting the chairs were at some point upholstered or used in the Netherlands. While this provides an interesting connection to the Netherlands, the original country of manufacture has not been established.
A particularly good matching pair with strong Arts & Crafts character and substantial proportions.

- Care Tips: Dust with a soft dry cloth. The oak can be occasionally treated with a small amount of good-quality furniture wax. Avoid silicone-based furniture sprays.
